Our STARBASE classroom has two qualified staff who are certified, professional teachers who put the needs of students first.

Our customized comprehensive STEM education curriculum meets national and state standards while building on the four STEM components, but never losing focus on providing experiences that are engaging, fun, and rewarding.

EDUCATION: STEM; USING STEM EDUCATION TO STEP INTO THE FUTURE

The program engages students through the inquiry-based curriculum with its “hands-on, minds-on”, experiential activities. Each academy chooses a customized curriculum from a large offering of peer-reviewed learning opportunities in each STEM area, such as: Newton’s Laws and Bernoulli’s principle, robotics, and engineering as they use the computer and the Computer Aided Design (CAD) program for various activities. Math is embedded throughout the curriculum and students use metric measurement, estimation, calculation, geometry, and data analysis to solve questions and problems. Teamwork is stressed as they work together to explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate concepts.

School Year Program

The Department of Defense (DoD) STARBASE program’s primary focus is to focus on fifth grader students and provide them an engaging experience in the realm of STEM. We work with local school districts to schedule their fifth-grade students to attend STARBASE New Hampshire.  The goal is to motivate them to explore STEM opportunities as they continue their education.  The 5th grade students will come to STARBASE New Hampshire on 5 different days and spend 5 hours each day to engage in lessons and hands-on activities, thus adding up to 25 hours of STEM experience.

The STARBASE academies typically serve the students who are historically underrepresented in STEM. Students who live in inner cities or rural locations, who are socio-economically disadvantaged, or who struggle in academic performance. We also serve students who may have a disability. The program encourages ALL the students to set goals and work to achieve them.
